ASIAN AMERICAN EXPO 2011 USHERS IN NEW YEAR

The largest Lunar New Year celebration in America, the Asian American Expo 2011, celebrating its 30th anniversary on Saturday(January 15th) and Sunday(January 16th) at the Pomona Fairplex. Every year over tens of thousands of people are expected to participate in this spectacular show to celebrate the Lunar New Year festivities.

The Rosemead-based Chinese Overseas Marketing Service Corporation organized the Asian American Expo to share a cultural heritage and to promote a better understanding among people of different backgrounds through the celebration of the Asian Lunar New Year. The Expo features more than 600 booths in four large exhibition halls, and 3 unique food courts featuring traditional Asian foods. Food lovers can sample a wide selection of mouthwatering Asian delicacies to tease their taste buds.

The Expo offers spectacular live traditional non-stop musical performances on six stages throughout the show on both days. There are more than 20 different groups of entertainers and performers scheduled, including celebrity singers performing in a live concert. Guests can experience Brazilian Samba, Chinese Acrobatics, Japanese Taiko, Thai, Korean traditional dances, cheerleading and ballroom dancing. The lion and dragon dances are a must see for the Lunar New Year celebrations.

Building 7 houses the Asian American Food Expo, the largest food & beverage offering for vendors and consumers. Free samples of traditional Asian products will be given handed out along with official red bags for all attendees to store their purchases and goodies. Raffle drawings will be conducted throughout the two show days, with a Grand Prize slated to be awarded to a lucky winner on the second show day.

Asian American Expo Key Findings

  • The Asian American Expo and Asian Food Expo Joint organized with the Chinese Consumer Yellow Pages, has been recognized as the largest Lunar New year Festival and traditional activity in the United States.
